Mohamed Sanu‘s tenure in Miami has come to an end already. The Dolphins are releasing the veteran receiver, reports Tom Pelissero of NFL Network (Twitter link).

An already deep Miami Dolphins wide receiver group got deeper last week when Mohamed Sanu was signed. That isn’t good news for some. At some point between now and the end of August, the Dolphins will have to make roster cuts to their wide receiver group.
The former third-rounder has been well-traveled in recent years, a notable contrast to the early part of his career.
Mohamed Sanu's history with Packers head coach Matt LaFleur goes back to 2016 in Atlanta. LaFleur was the QB coach and Sanu was the team's No. 2 receiver.
The 49ers on Wednesday announced wide receiver Mohamed Sanu was activated off injured reserve just in time for the NFC championship game. They also made a couple tweaks to their practice squad.
The Niners haven’t seen Sanu since Week 9, when the veteran wide receiver suffered a knee injury. Before that, Sanu had just 15 catches for 177 yards across eight games.

Add a couple more to the 49ers’ list. On Monday, the team both wide receiver Mohamed Sanu and safety Tavon Wilson on the injured reserve list, per an announcement from head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Wilson suffered a foot injury that will likely require an IR trip.

When the New England Patriots cut Mohamed Sanu Sr. in September last season, many were left scratching their heads. After all, New England had just recently paid a steep price -- a second-round pick -- for the veteran wide receiver.
The veteran receiver will return to San Francisco for the 2021 season.

Sanu had surgery on his ankle during the offseason, but was released by the Patriots before Week 1 after a disappointing training camp.
Sanu, 31, became expendable because he was scheduled to earn $6.5 million while existing below Julian Edelman and N'Keal Harry on the depth chart.
