Where could Stetson Bennett land? Three teams that make sense if former UGA QB doesn't remain with Rams
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Stetson Bennett has officially made his return to NFL since missing the entirety of his rookie season with the Los Angeles Rams due to undisclosed personal reasons.

There's very much a possibility that Bennett could remain with the team that drafted him in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, but his future remains uncertain, especially with the recent signing of Jimmy Garoppolo.

Here's a look into three landing spots that could make sense for the former Georgia quarterback if he is to ultimately see a change of scenery.

Atlanta Falcons

Could a trip back to Bennett's home state be in the cards for him? The Falcons don't exactly have the best quarterback situation in the NFL, with Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke being the two signal-callers they have under contract for 2024.

Heinicke has certainly had his bright moments throughout his NFL career, but he's not at all irreplaceable as the No. 2 option. On top of that, he's heading into the final year of his deal with the Falcons and the team could save $7 million if it were to release him.

Moving on from Ridder also shouldn't be considered completely out of the realm of possibility. If Atlanta parted ways with Ridder, it would save $922,458 if the Cincinnati Bearcats product were to be cut before June and $1,192,542 if he were to be cut after the first of June. While he shouldn't be expected to get a look for an immediate starting gig, kicking the tires on Bennett for a backup option could prove advantageous for the Falcons.

Green Bay Packers

Let's be clear, it's the full Jordan Love show in Green Bay as far as the starting position goes. But the team could pursue a backup option like Bennett to push and quite possibly take the position of current QB2, Jarrett Stidham.

Showing upside with a high floor as a quarterback who has proven he manages the game well, Bennett would enter a situation with one of the NFC's most solid offensive lines and groups of pass-catchers. What he accomplished at Georgia against the odds with a high level of talent around him suggests he'd be able to make do in a reliable manner if Love were to go down because of the proper protection and weapons Green Bay provides.

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens have two quarterbacks under contract heading into 2024 -- starter Lamar Jackson and backup Malik Cunningham. While Jackson brings a far higher level of talent and ceiling to the table that Cunningham does, the two are similar in skillset and have built a relationship with each other that precedes Cunningham's entrance to the NFL after he was originally signed by the New England Patriots on May 12, 2023.

He and the Patriots ultimately went their separate ways, with the Ravens bringing Cunningham on off the practice squad in December. Whether or not he sticks in Baltimore or in the NFL at all remains to be seen, and it should be noted that Todd Monken is the Ravens offensive coordinator.

Monken served as the Georgia offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2020-2022 and has plenty of familiarity with Bennett. If Bennett doesn't stay with the Rams, the two have a chance to re-establish a connection here for the QB2 or QB3 spot.
