Miami Dolphins officially announce their undrafted free agent signings on Friday
Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins have officially added more reinforcements to their roster.

The Dolphins posted on Friday morning on Twitter/X an announcement that they had signed 12 new undrafted free agents.

The Dolphins' approach regarding their undrafted free agent signings appears to be different than what general manager Chris Grier and his staff took in the draft this year.  Grier addressed a major need with his first pick but largely went with what he and his staff felt was the best player available for the remainder of the draft, sometimes to the exclusion of some roster areas that badly needed to be addressed (i.e., interior offensive line, defensive line, tight end).

The approach appears different for their undrafted free agent class, as they added a number of players in areas they either completely neglected or didn't address until late in the draft.  The Dolphins ended up signing a quarterback to compete with Skylar Thompson for the QB3 job.  They added another tight end.  They added two safeties and three cornerbacks.  They brought in two interior offensive linemen and a defensive tackle.

Now, the Dolphins will get an early look to see if any of these players can help them.  IOL Matthew Jones and Andrew Meyer could be players to keep an eye on.  Louisville cornerback Storm Duck is as well.  Duck and seventh round pick Tahj Washington should get a chance at round two in the team's rookie minicamp after the two faced off in the Holiday Bowl back in December.  Boyd caught a touchdown over Duck in USC's 42-28 win.

The action starts very soon, as rookie minicamp kicks off on Friday.
