Hear Me Out: Pairing Raiders WR Davante Adams And Rome Odunze?

Many Las Vegas Raiders fans find the idea of drafting a wideout at No. 13 to be outlandish, but what if you could land Rome Odunze to pair with Davante Adams while still drafting Michael Penix Jr.?

Yeah, that sounds pretty sweet.

Save the “this isn’t Madden” comments—we’ve heard it all before. Why is this different? Well, because sticking at No. 13 and then trading back into the first round is far less expensive than, say, mortgaging the future to move into the top three. Unless something extraordinary occurs on Day 1, you could potentially secure Penix in the later stages of the first round.

Rome Odunze wouldn’t mind joining the Raiders…

As for Odunze, he himself is not opposed to wearing the Silver and Black; in fact, he kind of, sort of, really wants to do it. While speaking with Raider Nation’s favorite pundit, Mike Florio, Odunze elaborated on that notion.

“I’m a fan of the Raiders, and you know being in my hometown, I’m a big fan already.”

Being a hometown boy who wants to fulfill his dream is nothing new. During this news cycle, however, when prospects talk about joining the Raiders, we all pay attention.

On top of that, Odunze is fully aware of what it would mean to play alongside Adams, but with Penix throwing them the ball, we can already sense the salivation from Raider Nation.

“I’m a very city-oriented young man, so I definitely wouldn’t mind putting on that silver and learning from Davante Adams. Hopefully, they get my boy Penix or someone back there slinging the ball as well, that would be awesome.”

Davante Adams isn’t going anywhere.

When it comes to Davante Adams, hearing his name in trade rumors has become an annual thing. 2024 is no different. Even so, No. 17 himself recently shot down any notion of leaving his boyhood team.

As The Athletic’s Tashan Reed mentioned this week, Adams re-emphasized his commitment to the Silver and Black while hosting his annual football camp.

If Adams isn’t going anywhere, imagine an offense with himself, Odunze, and Penix—the future would indeed look promising.
