Hankins, Edoga Fined By NFL

Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Johnathan Hankins and offensive lineman Chuma Edoga both received fines from the NFL for unnecessary roughness during Sunday's loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Hankins received the larger fine of the two, losing out on $7,319 due to a face mask penalty on the final drive of the game. Meanwhile, Edoga's fine of $6,847 comes from a penalty on Dallas' first drive early in the first quarter.

These fines illustrate a major problem for Dallas during Sunday's game: penalties. The Cowboys' discipline was lacking on Sunday, with 13 penalties for a total loss of 107 yards. The Cardinals didn't play the cleanest game either, as they had eight penalties for a loss of 69 yards, but made fewer mistakes overall to score an upset victory.

The Cowboys had a clean start to the season with no fines through the first two games, but that streak came to an end along with their undefeated record.

An 11-year veteran, Hankins, 31 came to Dallas through a midseason trade with the Las Vegas Raiders last year. He signed a one-year extension to remain with the Cowboys this season, and through three games, he has seven total tackles.

Edoga, 26, joined the Cowboys on a one-year deal this offseason in a move to shore up the offensive line depth. However, he has started each of the team's first three games due to injuries elsewhere, although he has held up well as the offensive line has only allowed three sacks. Edoga is currently dealing with an injury, but has been cleared to play against the New England Patriots on Sunday.

Not only will the Cowboys be looking to get back in the win column on Sunday, but they'll look to avoid any further fines as well.
