Chargers hint to their plan for the rest of free agency

Plenty of the Los Angeles Chargers' 2024 NFL Draft class was targeting offensive talent, especially early. They wanted to improve every level of that unit in order to maximize Justin Herbert in year one under Jim Harbaugh.

Now, they're pointing to adding some defensive stability via free agency. Veterans can be useful depth.

The Chargers visited with pass rusher Bud Dupree recently, according to Adam Schefter.

Clearly, no deal was/is imminent between the two sides, but it does give a hint to the free agency plans for LA. They are still looking for pass rush depth.

Los Angeles spent no notable draft capital on pass rush help.

Dupree has spent nine years in the NFL. He's played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans, and Atlanta Falcons.

Last year, he totaled 6.5 sacks - the most in a season for him since 2020 when he had 8. 2019 was his most productive seasons a pro so far, totaling 11.5 sacks.

In 99 starts, Dupree has totaled 53.0 sacks, 70 tackles for loss, and 90 QB hits. He's proven to be a solid pass rusher, and he could be a nice addition behind Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack in LA.
