The Daughters of an American Solder and His spit shined boots
( by the Keck sisters)
Our DAD. The bug killer, the jungle gym, the hand to hold our jump ropes, and the one who saved us from the monsters in our closets. When mom would ground us without dessert he woud sneak us some cookies and when there were yucky carrots, on our plates, we would sneak them on his plate. We missed him when he would be called away on duty. He couldnt be there, because the Army needed him too. We waved goodbye and huged him tight. Sometimes not wanting to let him go. Every fathers day we would each take a boot and polish it. The "spit shine"it was called. If he could only imagin his 3 daughters spitting on his boots Im sure he would laugh. We spent hours spitting, the more spit the better mom always said. Afterwards we had a contest whos boot was the shinest. Whoever won got the great honor of polishing the last boot. We would then wrap them up and every year he would recieve a gift of shiny, spit shined boots from his 3 daughters. As the years came and went he watch his children leave home. He retired after faithfully serving the US Army for 30 years. One by one his daughters all applied to the US Military spicifically the Army, just like daddy. On May 31 2008 Dad had to sulute his daughter as she graduated from Westpoint. He cried that day. Another went into the comunication field and the third made it to MEPS and pasted the ASFAB with a 92. And so we are the daughters of an American Solder. And this year we would like to give him a jersey from his favorite team along with his spit shined boots.
Love you Santonio Holmes! -
I was going to send this to my kids to see if they would fill it out, because I would love an Autographed Homes jersey or football. This post above, should get the prize. It is difficult heading out of town for a night or two for a customer visit. I could not imagine what these heros have to go through when they face deployment.

my dad, what can i say? hes the best. hes always been there for me my brothers and my sister. even when hes workin far away, like he is right now, he always finds time to spend with his family. he works so hard everyday. right now my son and i are livin with my father and he is so understandin of the hard time , and never lets me feel down about life . he is also a great grand father. he has become a human jungle jim for my son and my neice. they love him so much they get jealouse when hes playin with the other one. my dad is a huge steelers fan with little time to watch a game and would love a holmes jersy wether it was signed or not. hes always been a fan since he was little and so i am a fan and my son is a fan. he doesnt need a signed jersy to remain a fan, but deserves it , and much more , for bein such a great father , granfather, and friend.

My Dad, I don't know how to put it.. I love him and he loves me! Yea... we had some ups and downs but I counldn't ask for a better Dad! We go camping, work outside together, and the list goes on... If he died, I would have died with him(my heart would be broken) but either if I win the jersy or not he's still my Dad and I love him forever!!

I couldn't ask for a better father. He's actually my half-sisters biologically father but, treats me as if I was his own. To him, I am his daughter and has always been there for me. If anyone tells him that I am not actually his daughter, he gets really mad. Because, fatherhood isn't just someone who helps create you, it's someone who is always there for you. Other than always treating me like his own, he treats every single one of his children right. He will go without something if any of us ever needed anything. I don't think I would have been able to go to college if it wasn't for him. I wouldn't have been able to be a rower if it wasn't for him. My two other brothers wouldn't be successful if it wasn't for him. And my little sister wouldn't have such a great life if it wasn't for him. Also, he's a father to all the young guys at the fire station. My father is a retired exceutive chief of the fire department but, is always there for the young guys at the station. They even call him dad. Another reason why my father is so amazing is because, right now he is very sick with cancer but, is so strong and is beating it. Plus, he is totally cool with my little sister making fun of his bald head. In fact, he totally enjoys it. One last reason why my father is so amazing is because, he will sit there and watch Hannah Montana with my little sister. He even took her to the movie and sang all the song with her. Also, if it wasn't for my dad, I would never be a die hard Steelers fan. My dad proves that you don't have to be someone's biological father to actually be their father. He proves that all it takes is someone to be there for you, encourage you, push you to strive your best, teach you right from wrong, and even punish you when you do something bad, to be a real father.

MY dad is my hero. When i was growing up he was always working, either at his job or at the farm we lived on. BUT, when i had a baseball game, that always came first to him. He wanted to play catch with me all the time, but he would always hurt my hand. When i played teener league baseball he was always one of the dads their to give a couple of us a ride because we had to go to another city to play. The first time i saw my dad cry was when i graduated. He is a Vietnam vet, who is proud to have served his country. The second and only other time i saw him cry was october 5 1995. I had my arm crushed at work, and all i remember was waking up in a pittsburgh hospital and seeing my dad`s face. i looked at him and said,"dad i f*cked up". He started crying and told me that i didn`t. Now because of my work schedule and his, i don`t get to see him very much. But when something around my house breaks that because of my arm i can`t fix, he is always their for me. He is retiring from the railroad in october, and i can`t wait. Because that will be my chance to spend more time with him. He called me a couple of weeks ago, and asked me to do him a favor and take him to the doctor for surgury on his neck. I said to him "favor, it would be a privilage for me to finally do something for him". He is a life long steelers fan, so i grew up listening to stories about the 70`s steelers. That`s my dad, the greatest man in the world.

Well, you were an excellent student Sambot! I can attest to that! Oh yeah, Santonio, I'll take the jersey if she doesn't want it. She is compassionate that way ;-)
On a serious note, me and my Dad don't go around saying we love each other and hugging, but we both know that our bond is strong. I don't mind it this way. No drama, just unconditional love. -
Hey Santonio,
What a terrific idea! Thanks for taking the time to recognize fathers. Unfortunately for me this will be my first fathers day without mine. He passed away last September. It is very difficult to realize that you will never talk to your father again after his passing. Even though he was pretty sick near the end, his voice was always the same and one I will never forget. My father was a strong man who worked hard his entire life so I could be provided for. He was a retired truck driver and didn't have much time to help with sports but was always there for me as I played baseball, football and basketball growing up. He was an excellent example of what a father should be; strong, loving, willing to discipline when needed and ALWAYS there for me. Death is part of life, just not the easy part.
For all the sons and daughters out there, appreciate your father every day, because one day he may not be there.
Thanks again Santonio,

Hey Santonio,
What a great idea, thank you! Unfortunately for me this will be my first fathers day without my father. He passed away last September. Being a father is not always easy and my father was certainly one of the best. He was a strong man who worked very hard to provide for me and taught me how to be a man and a father. It's difficult to explain the realization that you will never hear a voice again that is ingrained into your brain. Not being able to call my dad this Sunday will be very tough for me. We were very close and he was a great man. I'm going to take my 14 year old son to the mountains for some fishing, and hiking, which was something my dad taught me to do.
To all the sons and daughters out there; appreciate your dads EVERY day, not just Fathers day, because one day they will not be there and you will miss them more than you can imagine.
Thanks again for doing this Santonio.

Great idea Mr. Holmes,
My family is full of Eagles fans, but I wanted to tell everyone I have a wonderful father. My parents divorced when I was very young and my father raised me along with my wonderful grandmother. (My mother re-married an abusive drunk) I was daddy's little girl. I still am. If he would not have raised me, I would not have had the opportunity to further my education if I would have graduated high school. I may have been abused by my step dad. My dad would rescue me when my first car would break down, he took me to my first Eagles game, Hershey Bears game and Phillies game. When I became a huge hockey fan, he took me to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto (the old hall) and we went to a Blue Jays game that same trip. He is a wonderful father, and it is tough to watch him turn into an old man. He has been stricken with diabetes, but he still plays football with my sons.
Continue to be a good father to your adorable son, we all grow up too fast. I hope the winner enjoys his prize. -
Love to see a father and child doing anything together, this is a great look...Happy Fathers day to all the amazing men out there that find a way to get it done no matter what the need.
